Welcome to the RRPictureArchives.NET contributor site of Douglas Hildebrandt.
Thanks for stopping by my website. The majority of my shots are taken in the Twin Cities area, but you will also find plenty of shots from southern Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
Some of my favorite pictures are the Wisconsin Central shots taken on the Soos former double track (single track now) main line in Northeast Mpls, known to some as Shoreham Hill. These are my favorite shots because trains nearly stall as they grind up grade towards St.Anthony and New Brighton. I also have a passion for the CPs River Sub and DM&E's Waseca Sub. Both feature great, older EMD power and are full of great photo locations. I am also a major EMD fan, with the EMD SD40-2 rapidly disappearing from Class 1 mainlines, I have made an effort to get the ones that are still around while I can.
If you are looking for WC SD45 pictures, then this is the place! I have photographed almost every single SD45 that the CN had running from 2002 to the present date. If you have a photo request please let me know and I will do my best to locate a photo of that unit.
I currently use a Nikon D3000 when I'm out shooting. I have a variety of lens that I like to use, but my favorite is my Tamron 18-270 lens which goes down to F3.5. It provides me with the versatility needed when quickly adjusting to get another shot of a moving train. My old pictures were taken with a Nikon Fe; those are usually the pre 2008 shots that you'll in my albums.
Enjoy my pictures, comments & questions are welcomed!
Thanks,
